Erven Rovinsky Torah Dedication

Deuteronomy 31:19 says, So now, write this song for yourselves, and teach it to the Children of Israel, place it in their mouth, so that this song shall be for Me a witness against the Children of Israel.

In the commentary section of the Stone Chumashim on page 1096, the editors explain:

The Sages derive from this verse that every Jew is commanded to write a Torah Scroll, a commandment that can be fulfilled by writing a single letter of a complete scroll. Because the lack of even one letter renders a scroll invalid, the writing or correcting of a single letter is tantamount to completing the entire scroll.

This has become known over the years as the 613th mitzvah.

Each of us has the opportunity to participate in this mitzvah and honor Erven Rovinsky. The Rovinsky Torah will be housed at Tiferet and you have the opportunity to dedicate a letter, word, verse or section in your or someone else’s honor or memory.

At this time of the year around Passover and Shavuot, this is an even more special occasion since it is the period during which we celebrate two holy days when we recite the Yizkor prayer in which we promise to give to charity in honor of our ancestors.

Please review the list of Dedication Opportunities and consider how you may select an honor for yourself, someone in your family or a deceased relative or friend and acknowledge the leadership of Erven Rovinsky at Tiferet and in the Dallas Jewish Community.

Selections will be reserved based on the date received so we encourage you to make your commitment early so you can have the selection of your choice.
